Let Your Content do the Work

CONTENT IS KING

Content marketing means writing things your customers actually want to read, and publishing them where your customers actually are. Blog posts, service pages, email newsletters. That is the whole category.

It is also the part of marketing most often done badly, because it is easy to produce words and hard to produce words worth reading. Dominguez Marketing has been writing for Buffalo area businesses since 2018, and the standard we hold ourselves to is simple: would somebody who was not paid to read this get to the end of it.

Improve

Good content does one job before it does any other. It answers a question somebody actually asked. That sounds obvious, and it is the thing most business content skips straight past on its way to describing the company.

knowledge

Think about how your own customers behave. Somebody with a problem searches for the problem, not for your business name. They do not know you exist yet. What they find first is whoever explained the problem clearly, and by the time they have read that explanation, they have formed an opinion about whether that company knows what it is doing. The article did the work a sales conversation would otherwise have had to do, before anyone picked up the phone.

That is the mechanism, and it is why content compounds while advertising does not. A well written page keeps answering the same question for years, for every new person who asks it. An advertisement stops the moment the budget does. Neither one replaces the other, but they behave completely differently and they should be judged on different timelines.

Give You a Strong Voice

Mark Dominguez Jr. founded Dominguez Marketing in 2018 around traditional values combined with modern results. In practice that means two things about how we write.

The first is that we learn your business before we write about it. Not from a questionnaire, from a conversation. The details that make content credible are the ones only you know: why customers call, what they get wrong, what you wish they understood before they picked up the phone. That material is the difference between a page that sounds like your business and a page that could belong to anyone in your trade.

The second is that we write in plain English. No jargon, no filler stretched to hit a word count, no sentences written to impress another marketer. If a paragraph is not earning its place, it comes out. Most business owners do not have time to read around a point, and neither do their customers.

What Content Marketing Includes

Website and service page content

The pages that describe what you do. These are the hardest working words on your site, because they are what somebody reads when they are already considering hiring you. A service page that explains how the work is done, what the options are and how to choose between them will outperform one that lists features, because it answers the question the reader is actually holding.

Blog articles

Articles aimed at the questions people ask before they are ready to buy. These bring in readers who are still researching, which means they arrive earlier in the process and they arrive already trusting you a little. The subjects come from what your customers ask, not from a list of search terms with no connection to your business.

Email newsletters

Email reaches people who already chose to hear from you, which makes it the most valuable audience you have and the easiest one to waste. Newsletters that get opened tend to be short, tend to be genuinely useful, and tend to arrive on a predictable rhythm. Ones that get ignored tend to be about the company rather than about the reader.

Rewriting what is already there

Most businesses do not need a pile of new pages. They need the pages they already have to do their job properly. Existing service pages are usually the fastest improvement available, because they already have some history behind them and they already sit where visitors land. Rewriting one page that gets traffic is often worth more than publishing three new ones nobody has found yet, and it is a far smaller commitment to start with.

How we decide what to write

We start with the questions you get asked most, because those are questions with proven demand behind them. Then we check how people phrase those questions when they search, so the wording on the page matches the wording in their head. Then we write the answer properly, in full, once. One thorough page beats four thin ones on the same subject, both for readers and for search engines, which are increasingly good at telling the difference.

How to Judge Whether Content Is Working

Content takes longer to show results than advertising, which makes it easy to either give up too early or keep going too long without checking. A reasonable way to judge it:

  • In the first three months, look at whether pages are being found at all, not at whether they are producing customers. Nothing ranks immediately.
  • From three to six months, look at whether the right people are arriving, meaning visitors who stay and read rather than leave straight away.
  • From six months onward, look at what it produced. Calls, forms, quote requests, sales. This is the only measure that finally matters.
  • Throughout, look at whether the content is something you would be comfortable putting your name on. If it is not, no amount of traffic will fix it.

We will show you those numbers as they are, including in the months where the answer is that something is not working yet and we are changing the approach.

Social Media Advertising

Putting your content in front of the right people on the platforms where they already spend their time.

Web Design

Content needs somewhere good to live. Sites that load fast, read well on a phone and make getting in touch obvious.

Search Engine Marketing

Paid search for when you need traffic this month rather than next quarter. It works alongside content, not instead of it.
